Creating a Technology Infused Learning Environment

Today we use technology for just about everything for finding the perfect recipe for creating that new dish for dinner or like I do every year to find a new cake idea to create for my children’s birthday.  I can spend hours sometimes without notice searching the Internet for recipes. If I run into problems I search blogs, videos or even chat rooms for ideas.  Technology is completely embedded in our lives and the world around us.  We now use technology as a life line system to personalize learning in education.  In today’s classrooms I use technology to teach and provide my students with the best current tech-infused resources to support my curriculum. Visual Literacy in the 21st Century Classroom

The 21 st century educator is aware of the ever changing trends in technology and what’s forthcoming in the future of education.  They will be well rounded with career exploration for their students and seek opportunities to prepare their students for global competition.  Therefore, 21 st century teaching strategies should encompass the same attributes.  Student learning diversity is a must to provide an educational experience that meets the needs of the world around them.  Instruction should tap into student’s interests and abilities to help them improve their chances of success in college and beyond.  Visual literacy strategies can help students better understand concepts as they use, create, interpret and evaluate images.  Recent 21 st century educational studies estimate that we gain more than half of our knowledge through visual texts (Krauth, 2008).  Students are inundated with multimedia on a daily basis.  Visual literacy plays a vital role in students becoming globally
